Pixie Dust?
May 20th, 2008
From the BBC.
I don’t think it’s pixie dust persay, but it is something special. It will be an amazing day when we discover the secrets of tissue regeneration.
And, some basic info from HowStuffWorks.
Thanks for the story, Ted!

Your buds over at the Skeptics Guide already had their way with this story, deciding that it was mostly baloney. It seems that the length of finger the guy lost was overstated by many news outlets, and the actual amount of healing would not be outside the realms of what could be reasonably expected biologically.
Yeah, I was just going to post that the Skeptics Guide already ripped this apart on a recent show.. but don’t feel bad, I was completely fooled by the news story until I heard the Skeptics Guide myself… It just proves that sometimes I’m not as skeptical as I’d like to imagine I am.
Where did the Skeptics Guide discuss this story? A lay overview of the work being done on regenerative medicine at University of Pittsburgh was presented at TED by one of the researchers, and this story isn’t out of line with that.
SGU 5×5 Episode 18. Its not the main podcast, just a weekly 5 minute one they also do.
